Quick answer: the only CJC-1295 and ipamorelin results ever measured in people are hormone levels, and only for each peptide on its own. One injection of CJC-1295 with DAC raised growth hormone 2- to 10-fold for 6 days or more and IGF-1 1.5- to 3-fold for 9 to 11 days in healthy adults,[1] and ipamorelin caused a single growth hormone pulse that peaked about 40 minutes after an IV dose.[4] No study has measured muscle, fat loss, sleep or “before and after” changes from the pair.[6]

This page explains what has been measured, what has not, how fast hormone changes happen, and how to read results you see online. For the basics, see our CJC-1295 and ipamorelin guide and the growth hormone peptides hub.

Sources: the CJC-1295 studies,[1][2] FDA’s reviews,[3] the ipamorelin studies[4][5] and a 2026 endocrine review.[6]

The 2026 review sorted these peptides into evidence tiers. Ipamorelin and the DAC form of CJC-1295 sit in a middle tier, with early human studies that did not test body composition or performance. CJC-1295 without DAC sits in the lowest tier, with no peer-reviewed human studies at all.[6]

Hormone results: CJC-1295 with DAC

These are the strongest human data, from healthy volunteers in the mid-2000s:

  • Growth hormone and IGF-1: single injections raised both in a dose-dependent way. With repeat doses a week or two apart, IGF-1 stayed above baseline for up to 28 days.[1]
  • Natural rhythm kept: in 12 healthy men, growth hormone kept its normal overnight pulses. The rise came mainly from much higher levels between pulses (7.5-fold), and average IGF-1 rose 45%.[2]
  • Upper limit: IGF-1 went above the normal range only at the highest dose, 250 mcg per kg.[3]

In mice that cannot make their own GHRH, daily CJC-1295 injections restored normal growth and body composition, while the same dose every 2 or 3 days was less effective.[9] That is an animal growth-deficiency model, not evidence about adults with normal hormones.

Hormone results: ipamorelin

In healthy men given 15-minute IV infusions at five dose levels, each dose caused one burst of growth hormone, peaking at about 0.67 hours, followed by a decline to negligible levels.[4] Responses varied more from person to person than drug levels did.[4]

Ipamorelin’s only published efficacy trial tested it for gut recovery after bowel surgery. In 114 patients, it did not significantly shorten the time to a tolerated meal compared with placebo (25.3 vs 32.6 hours, p = 0.15).[5]

Does combining them add up?

The pair is meant to press two buttons at once: CJC-1295 copies GHRH and ipamorelin copies ghrelin. There is older evidence that the general idea works on hormone levels. In 18 healthy men, small IV doses of an early ghrelin-type peptide given with GHRH released more growth hormone than either alone.[7]

That does not show the pair produces better outcomes. The 2026 review concluded that controlled evidence supporting synergy or meaningful body-composition benefit in healthy people is lacking.[6]

Muscle, fat loss and sleep

These are the results people most often look for, and they are the least studied:

  • Muscle: no human study of either peptide measured lean mass or strength.[6]
  • Fat: no human study measured fat loss. In mice, twice-daily ipamorelin increased body fat and food intake, an effect that did not depend on growth hormone.[8]
  • Sleep and recovery: not measured for either peptide. Many sellers’ claims are drawn from other compounds; FDA found clinic websites promising benefits from muscle and bone to skin, mood and libido without supporting studies.[3]

For more on that drug, see tesamorelin results and CJC-1295/ipamorelin vs tesamorelin.

How fast do results show?

  • Ipamorelin: a growth hormone pulse within the first hour after an IV dose, fading within hours.[4]
  • CJC-1295 with DAC: IGF-1 rose within 8 hours and peaked 2 to 4 days after a single injection, depending on dose.[3]
  • How long the change lasts: after one DAC injection, IGF-1 held at a plateau for up to a week and then gradually declined toward baseline; at the two highest doses it stayed raised for at least 2 weeks.[3]
  • Body changes: unknown. As a reference point, the tesamorelin trials measured their main result at 26 weeks.[10]

Reading “before and after” results online

Before-and-after photos and posts are the most common way people judge this pair, but they are hard to interpret:

  • Unknown product. CJC-1295 without DAC was first identified in a seized, unlabeled preparation in Norway in 2009.[12] FDA counted at least nine names for five related substances, so users may not know what they injected.[3]
  • Other drugs. The 2026 review notes that people using these peptides often also use anabolic steroids, thyroid hormone, stimulants or other agents.[6]
  • No comparison group. Diet, training, sleep, lighting and camera angle all change a photo; without a placebo group, the peptide’s share cannot be separated out.

If you want to track results, measurable markers are more useful than photos. Our CJC-1295 and ipamorelin side effects guide covers what to watch for, and the dosage guide covers which amounts were actually tested.

Questions to ask a clinician

  • What result do you expect, and what evidence is that based on?
  • Will you measure IGF-1, glucose and body composition before and during treatment?
  • How long until we decide whether it is working, and what happens if it is not?
  • Is there an FDA-approved treatment with trial results for my goal?

Talk to a licensed clinician before using any growth hormone-related product.
